ORGDH Disaster Relief department thanks all of its volunteers and donors. Your support in helping Haitian earthquake victims makes ORGDH respond to disasters and other programs by delivering water and other necessary materials and humanitarian aid when and where needed. All our recipients give you many thanks and blessings.  Many of the humanitarian catastrophes and emergency situations we have observed on the ground during past projects could have been avoided or lessened if the general population had a much greater awareness or participate in a humanitarian project as you do.

ORGDH prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. By providing lifesaving food, secure housing, clean water, healthcare, emergency relief, micro-enterprise projects and education opportunities, ORGDH is giving the poor a chance at a better future, and showing them God’s love.

Below are some examples of recent natural and man-made disasters to which ORGDH responded.

Hurricane Ian Relief By ORGDH

After Hurricane IAN slammed into Cuba, Florida, and South Carolina, many people were left stranded without power or homes. In response, we at ORGDH  have set up a relief fund to help those affected by the hurricane.

The ORGDH- Hurricane Relief Fund will provide much-needed assistance to the deserving, help with emergency health and care supplies and services, and help with long-term rebuilding efforts.

We're Raising Donations for Hurricane Ian  Relief

Hurricane Ian caused widespread destruction throughout the Caribbean and Florida. Many people have lost everything they own and can't get their hands on basic things like food, water, and shelter.

That's why we are actively raising money to provide relief to those affected by this natural disaster.

Every donation we receive makes a direct difference in how many individuals we are able to help. We know there are many people willing to help, so please share this with your friends and families.

How Are We Helping Hurricane IAN Victims?

Food Assistance

One of the most immediate needs for those affected by hurricane IAN is food. Many lost everything they owned in the storm, including food supplies. We are working to provide food assistance to those who need it most. We are distributing non-perishable food items, water, and other essential supplies. We also work with local restaurants and grocery stores to provide hot meals to those in need.

Emergency Shelter

Another immediate need for those affected by hurricane IAN is emergency shelters. Many people lost their homes in the storm, lived in makeshift shelters, or slept outdoors. We are working to provide emergency shelter to those who need it most. Our team set up these temporary shelters with cots and blankets.

We are also working with local hotels and motels to provide discounts for people who the hurricane has displaced.

Rebuilding Homes

Once people have food and shelter, they can begin to think about rebuilding their homes. For many people, this will be a long and challenging process.

However, we are committed to helping people rebuild their homes and lives. We are partnering with local contractors to provide discounts on materials and labor. We are also providing financial assistance to help cover the cost of repairs.

ORGDH DIRECTS ALL DESIGNATED DONATIONS FOR DISASTER PROGRAMS TO THE DISASTER RELIEF EFFORTS.

Health Care Assistance

One of the ways we are helping IAN hurricane-affected people is by providing health care assistance, including both physical and mental health care. Many people have suffered physical and mental injuries from the hurricane, and we are doing our best to help them recover.

We are also aware of the mental toll that such a disaster can take, and we offer counseling and other services to help people deal with the trauma they have experienced.

Supplies

Another way we are helping is by providing supplies to those who need them. It includes food, water, and other essential items. Many people lost everything they owned in the hurricane, and we are doing our best to help them get back on their feet. We are also working with other organizations to ensure people have access to the resources needed to rebuild their homes and lives.

Child Care & Education

We also recognize that many children were affected by the hurricane. As a result, we are providing childcare and education services to help them cope with what they have been through.

We want to make sure that they can continue to learn and grow, despite the challenges they have faced. We are also working to reunite families who were separated during the hurricane.

Haiti Crises Relief

In the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake. The organization provided emergency food assistance, water, rubble removal, and classroom construction. After the disastrous effects of Hurricane Matthew in October 2016, ORGDH  deployed a Disaster Assistance Response.

Since the 2010 earthquake, there has been an increased focus on humanitarian aid to Haiti due to political issues. The reality is that not enough has been done when it comes to providing humanitarian aid to the country. We need more humanitarian efforts to help the desperate.

Children in Haiti have been going hungry or even starving. They have been abandoned by their parents for lack of money to feed them, going without basic needs, missing their educations, and coming under the control of human traffickers and criminal gangs.

The number of children who are affected by the Haitian crisis and who will need humanitarian aid this year is expected to more than double to reach millions. The figure includes children uprooted from Haiti, those who have returned, and others in host and transit communities across the Dominican Republic. The latest estimate highlighted expectations among aid agencies that the political crisis in Haiti will worsen in the coming months, exacerbating the dire humanitarian situation of children and families. What would you do if you were a parent of these children and lived in the distressed country of Haiti? What would you do if you saw that your only small garden had died?

Compassionate Instinct

Thanks to everyone that helps us to provide urgent supplies, emergency aid, and long-term recovery to children and families in the worst-hit areas in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. We are all born with that innate ability to be compassionate. 90% of your donation will go directly to help those impacted by a disaster.

Many formed entities are involved in disaster response activities.  They come from various households and organized groups of common interests whose goal is to be a source and channel of support and aid whenever emergencies arise.

When a crisis occurs, these groups organize together and form networks. Their helping behavior as a more structured entity allows them to be involved and perform assistance at a broader range.   They are reaching more people, providing many dangerous services such as search and rescue, meeting the victims on a more personal level, talking to them, counseling, giving encouragement and handing face-to-face the basic needs they wanted to provide victims, and even joining disaster aftermath cleanup.
